Cling film is rubbish the moment it leaves the box

The real test
What actually makes a food cover work isn't what you think
The thing that makes a cover useful is not how tightly it clings on the way out of the box. It is whether it makes a real seal, and whether you can use it again tomorrow. Cling film fakes the first part and completely fails the second. It wrinkles, gaps at the corners of anything not perfectly round, and once it is off, it is finished.
New Zealand sends over 300,000 tonnes of plastic to landfill every year, and only around 45,000 tonnes gets collected for recycling (Office of the Prime Minister's Chief Science Advisor). One habit makes the seal actually work
Dry the rim of the container and the lid before you stretch it on. Wet silicone slides instead of gripping, so a dry edge is the difference between an airtight seal and a lid that pops off in the fridge. Beyond that, just stretch it over the bowl the way you would cling film, minus the tearing and the waste.
This is the large pack, so it will not help with a small leftover container — that is a job for the smaller sizes. And it will not replace every use of cling film overnight. What it does replace, completely, is the big wasteful uses: the salad bowl, the party platter, the family dish, gone from a single-use wrap to something you wash and use again next week.
